Nahari Silk Veils Care Instructions

*Hand - dyed silk requires washing separately in cold water with a soft laundry detergent like Woolite. Some veils which are not hand-dyed by Nahari, (as noted in item description) have starch in them and feel stiff. This can be removed by washing according to the instructions.) The silks can also be dry cleaned. Some leaching of the color may take place while you are washing it but it will only be excess dye and will nor affect the color. If you have a stain of any sort it is best not to rub the area as it will affect the coloring. If you would like to maintain the color well rinse the silk in a mix of one cup of white vinegar to one gallon of water agitating it for about 5 minutes.

*If you want to iron the veils to get the folds and creases out. Lightly use a very hot iron on the  linen or maximum setting to remove them. Keep the iron moving so it does not burn the silk and do not go over the care label with the iron as it is a polyester label and will shrivel.
Under no circumstances treat or touch the silk with bleach as it will dissolve.

For any static there are a few ways to get rid of it. One is washing the veil in a very small amount of good quality fabric softener. One is spraying the silk with water or spraying it with a light spray of leave in hair conditioner. (There is one available at health food stores that comes in a spray on form and it moisturizes the silk but only a very little should be sprayed about 6" away from the silk to just add a touch of moisture. If you have a performance coming up using a new veil or skirt  I recommend following these instructions before you perform and if you can't, take a water spritzer with you just to spray it a touch before you perform.

*Dry conditions increase the static and so hanging the veil or skirt or scarf in a bathroom while you take a hot shower allows the veil to soak up some moisture from the steam and reduce static.

*The silks are fine, lightly woven materials and care needs to be taken not to handle it with long fingernails, greasy or oily hands, to bring it close to your lips if you are wearing lipstick or to leave it around pets, children or people who are eating. Store the silk in a plastic zip lock bag for the best protection. Treat it carefully and it will last you a very long time.
